Our History
The Murrieta Bugle was launched in March 1998 as the flagship of The Bugle publications with the concept of a community information and opinions forum that accentuated the positive and provided recognition for the heroes in the community, the volunteers, who raise funds for local charities, cultural activities, and youth sports. It was also a medium for volunteer authors of all ages to come and publish their special interest articles. The Bugle was envisioned as a vehicle for the community to "come toot their own horn".
The Temecula Bugle was launched in April 2001. Its direct mail distribution area was expanded in 2005 to include the unincorporated area of Silverhawk and in 2008 included Rainbow in San Diego County.
The Lake Elsinore Bugle was also launched in 2001.
The unique concept of a Free Newspaper with Home Delivery by Saturation Mail and high traffic set out sites created a win-win situation for the readers and the advertisers for over 10 years however in 2008 the economy took a downturn in addition to increased postage rates. Advertisers needed a low cost, high quality method of reaching their target market.
In 2009, that need was met with one regional newspaper in print with set out site distribution. On the twelfth anniversary of the flagship newspaper, March 2009 marked the launch of a new masthead, The Community Bugle, for the inter-community newspaper that serves a broad region of Southwest California. FREE electronic access to the current edition plus archives were added at www.thebugle.net in 2010.
